Alpha's Baby:A Secret Baby Romance(9)

By: Lauren Landish

I was walking out of the male dressing room area, not watching where I was going, when I felt something soft slam into my chest.

I heard a small cry and a light thud. Startled, I looked down. There, sprawled on the floor was a sexy, masked angel. She had long, dark hair that lay across her mask like a shawl, a shapely figure, and killer legs. Something about her seemed familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it.

“I’m sorry,” I said, quickly offering my hand to the mysterious vixen. “I wasn’t watching where I was going.”

The masked angel glanced up at me for a moment and looked away quickly as if she was afraid to check out my body.

“Neither was I,” she mumbled underneath her breath, making me strain to understand her.

“Let me help you up.”

“That's ok, I'm fine.” The angel quickly scrambled to her feet and without a second glance my way, hurried away.

“Hey, wait up!” I called.

The masked angel continued on, nearly breaking into a sprint. I quickly made my way after her, easing through aisles, when I heard a sharp whistle, laughs, and giggles.

“Oh, my God, what a hot gladiator!” A group of three college girls were pointing at me and whispering amongst each other, their eyes lit up.

“Thanks, ladies.” I grinned at them briefly and glanced at where the angel had run off to. She was nowhere in sight.

“Do you have a name?” one of the girls asked.

I looked around the store for several more moments before turning to the girls and grinning. “Spartacus,” I said.

After a little flirting with the three girls, I found Jace, Craig, and Todd near the counter.

“Did any of you see a hot angel run through here?”

“Yeah,” Craig replied.

“Where’d she go?” I asked.

Craig nodded at my loincloth. “Looks like in your crotch.”

The fellas had a good laugh at that. I could laugh right along with them. I knew I had nothing to be ashamed of.

When it came time to pay for the costume, Todd was adamant that I pay for it. I slapped my jeans on the counter and my wallet fell out of the pockets before I could grab it.

Jace was the one to pick it up. “Dude, who’s this chick in your billfold?”

I didn’t even have to look to know who he was referring to. “That’s Bella, my stepsister.”

Craig and Todd crowded around Jace to get a better look at what he was staring at.

Jace’s face was a little pale. “That’s your stepsister?”

I nodded.

“Fuck, she’s hot.”

“Yeah,” Craig chimed in. “I’d totally smash that.”

Anger surged through me. “None of you dickwads would have any chance with her. She doesn’t go for dumb jocks.”

In reality, what did I know about Bella’s actual taste in guys? She had never confided in me what kind of guys she liked, and I kind of assumed that she wouldn’t like the dumb athlete.

Whatever the case, the way my frat brothers were salivating over her was pissing me off.

“How would you know?” Jace asked, feeling his balls drop a little again, it seemed.

I just didn’t want to kick his ass with half of my ass hanging out of a loincloth. I snatched my wallet from his hands and pulled out a wad of cash to pay for my costume. “Because she told me. End of discussion.”

Chapter 5

Bella

“Are you ready, Bella?”

It was the night of the Sacrifice. I was standing before the Kappa living room mirror with several of my sorority sisters surrounding me, making sure my costume was absolutely perfect and that the mask hid most of my features.

The entire room was filled with excited chatter, making me even more anxious than I already was.

Apparently, the guy I would be sacrificed to was a new student on campus and no one knew his identity. And supposedly, no one from the Alpha fraternity knew mine either, but I had to wonder if that would change after tonight.

Both sides claimed that they had taken an oath not to reveal the identity of either participant. I was filled with anxiety that it was all just a lie.

But that wasn’t the only thing that was on my mind.

Back in the costume shop, I had run into a masked gladiator. My God, did he have a beautiful body—just as beautiful as Stefan’s, and that was saying something.

I had run away from him though, for some stupid damn reason.

“Yes,” I said finally. “Let’s rock.”

Twenty minutes later, I was stepping into the Alpha fraternity building with my sisters. I looked around, a little frightened. There were jocks all around and loud music playing. All of them had beer in their hands and were eyeing me lewdly.

Anxiety threatened to overwhelm me. My breathing became heavy and ragged. I couldn't go through with this. What had I been thinking? This whole thing was going to wind up ruining my reputation at the school. I had to get out.
